UN-HABITAT III Dialogue in Surabaya

July 2016

Before last step that should lead to the adoption of the future "Agenda 2030 for cities", Conference #PrepCom3 held in Surabaya in late July 2016 paved the way for further deepening. To ensure the continuum, the Czech Minister for Regional Development, Mrs. Karla Šlechtová) came to defend the political project adopted at the UN-Habitat III Conference in Prague last March.

Permanent Representatives have expressed a particular attachment to that "diversity" which is a regional key element in the implementation of the next Urban Agenda. The next conference is scheduled for next October in Quito (Ecuador) will tell if this question of regional diversity will resist any intention of standardization. To be continued

France heard before the High Commissioner for Human Rights

28 & 29 April, 2015 - 86th session

UNCTAD - 28th Extraordinary Session on Trade and Development, 2014

This special conference recalled the UNCTAD orientations during the previous decade. It was an opportunity to remind the UNCTAD priorities, under pressure from industrialized countries on the United Nations to to reform from within.

In June 2014, the members had to answer a crucial question: "What type of development goal the UNCTAD should follow?".

Obviously, as it has been mentioned, it is impossible to turn back The "Golden Age" of the 1960's and 1970's is not reproducible. At the same time, all States party are aware that the involvement of UNCTAD in the draft globalized" developing countries' demand for new programs action is growing.

This conference was a specific time to rethink the implications of political actors for the future role of UNCTAD at the regional level.

UN-Habitat III Meeting in Prague : A MILESTONE FOR ENHANCED COOPERATION IN URBAN DEVELOPMENT.

March 2016

Many questions related to the new sustainable Urbanization of Cities in the world have met the ambitious road map goals for an intelligent green urbanization beyond 2030. This Rendezvous is one on the many other ones that the United Nations, the UN-Habitat and the UNECE have already planned. Thanks to self-commitment of the Czech National Government and on behalf of the United Nations, the meeting held from  March 16 - 18, 2016 has open informal talks among policy-decision makers, civil representatives and national third parties to this long-term project of urban planning. The CEREPPOL NGO Board joint this meeting by invitation of the national Czech republic and the United Nations, and has played a intelligent role in many side-talks with  regional representatives and heads of departments who were there.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF The CEREPPOL NGO AT PRAGUE

It was imperative to rethink territorial development strategy in which people could be technically associated with the functional development of their living environment.

During the many discussions with stakeholders, the CEREPPOL NGO recalled the importance of a better alignment / adequacy with the living standards and ownership of the framework by resident populations. A question of "plasticity" that must necessarily be adjusted to take full account of the needs of human groups established in districts.

On behalf of the general interest, the diagnosis made by the Prague Conference is clear. Prague represents in some way the "ground zero" of the new matrix redefinition of cities. This meeting was a time to remember the various actors that the technical governance of cities should also comply with the "circular economy" concept and in that sense, it was important to build-up cities that would promote short circuit of consumption / production in order to reduce all waste / environmental incremental costs "related".

"Civil Society Day 2015"

European Economic and social Committee
